I stopped at Sunken Gardens yesterday to see how all the wonderful plants, birds and butterflies were doing for the winter. All the bird cages were empty as we are preparing for the coldest night of the year. But the flamingos were out eating in their pen so I capture a few images of my beautiful friends!

juant3 from Bremen, Germany

This is really a great shot! We have here in Bremen a store which not only sells plants but also have a small zoo in it. Some of their animals are flamingos. So I have to say that this is an amazing close up showing the prettiness of this bird...

@juant3: Thanks Juan, I appreciate the encouragement!

Anne from White Rock, Canada

It's a wonderful shot. Never saw such detail in a Flamingo before - with wings folded - looks like the feathers are braided. Beautiful color!

PS. Isn't it almost time for Charlie to be on his way home?

17 Feb 2007 11:25am

@Anne: Thanks Anne - he was a little cold - the Florida birds are like the Florida people, not use to anything below 60! He was a marvelous animal! AND YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Charlie leaves Baghdad is 3 days, not that I am counting or anything!! And thank you so much for remembering!!! I love my boy!

filipe franco from Lagoa, Azores, Portugal

Considering the relatively banal subject, the presented image reflects great sensibility and expertise ...... I tell otherwise the composition of the image that detaches the form and the color regarding the element - swan, demonstrating an aesthetic refined notion!!
