It's been a very mild winter here in Florida the huge white Bird of Paradise in the front of our house continues to bloom...

Kaushal from Groningen, Netherlands

Nice..really nice...I love this flower! I'll be posting one soon...(but not as colourful as this one!) Good one!

29 Jan 2007 11:16am

@Kaushal: Thanks Kaushal - this particular bloom is on a plant that is taller than my house and blooms continually!

Wayne from Melbourne, Australia

Great shot but I think a portrait format in this case would've served your purpose better because if memory serves me right BoP's have a nice slender height...and then the bloom can be on top =D

29 Jan 2007 11:20am

@Wayne: Wayne - thanks, and you are right - I anguished over posting it as there was something I felt could be better - I'll shoot some more soon. Thanks again for the valuable input!

Anne from White Rock, Canada

Gorgeous shot of this exotic flower! Such detail. Would you lose that if you put the stem in as well, seeing as how its so tall?
PS. Your comment about my Pretty Little Bird: Thanks. The bird got injured shortly after I took that one,and I've posted another one of him today - very sad.

@Anne: Thanks Anne! You are absolutely correct - I'm looking forward to shooting this again - it blooms year round in my front yard... I saw today's bird shot and hope all turns out well!

@susankritha: Thanks - much appreciated!

Suby from Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

It is a flower and not a bird? :)

Suby

29 Jan 2007 3:31pm

@Suby: Suby - not sure - I have to feed the plants and the animals around my house - maybe I got the foods mixed up and created a plant/bird LOL - thanks for stopping by - you work in some of y most favorite!

renee mudd from Denver, United States

it's refreshing to see flowers and a bit of beauty every once and awhile, we're all buried in snow and ice here in Denver.

29 Jan 2007 4:56pm

@renee mudd: thanks Renee - sorry you folks are having such a rough winter - we see it every night on TV and seems like a world away as we have had such a mild winter. I wish you warmth!

Myst from Bologna, Italy

Really impressive! Beautiful shot! Love it too much.

@Myst: Thanks you kindly Myst!

Bronnie from Christchurch, New Zealand

Gorgeous colours, I love the chaotic lines and angles in this picture - even though the flower can be 'elegant' and you could picture in portrait with all the stem and leaves, to me it always brings up a feeling of the abundance of summer and the slightly over-the-top craziness that lazy summer afternoons bring!

29 Jan 2007 5:53pm

@Bronnie: Thank you Bronnie - much appreciated! Our "no winter" here this year has kept blooms all year! Thanks again!
